Welcome to the new Max Mara store on Taormina’s historic Corso Umberto and a very special exhibition. Come inside and enjoy the store’s sun drenched rooms with restored local stone floors and lofty ceilings, furnished with artisanal wicker armchairs, ceramic tables and bamboo consoles. You will find the relaxed atmosphere of a refined holiday home. In this special place, alongside the latest collection, pride of place belongs to ‘Remains’ - a ceramic installation by Parisian artist Florence Bamberger. The work is a collection of "artistic snapshots" of Taormina filtered through the artist's eye. The work creates an elegant parallel between Sicilian architecture and female figures inspired by the Max Mara Archives. As she explains, ‘the cut clay is like a dressmaking pattern, and the drawn lines resemble seams.’ The work plays with contemporary shades of beige, evoking Max Mara’s classic tones, along with lemon yellow, black, and sky blue, reflecting the colors of nature and the surrounding landscape. Through the spontaneity of ceramics, Bamberger highlights the architectural dimension of Max Mara ’s fashion, offering a tribute to chance and rigor in a perfect balance between fullness and emptiness.
